ending and beginning

We all get a chance

to reinvent ourselves

daily, even

and in this time, this loop of a year

where the ending and the beginning are so close

and touch

the snake begins eating his tail

here, at this place, this crossroads

we shed our skin

to grow glistening scales

anew

and in this place

our seedpods might open

and cast out

our promise,

that the wind

may carry

us, this part of ourselves

far

and away.
